discussing an amicable basis of settlement. If, however, in the case of a cheque, you decide to place it immediately in the hands of your Bank for collection, and the drawer of the cheque, to whom it is understood his Bank will refer before making payment, thereupon secks a discussion with a view to an amicable se lc- ment of the debt, it is also hoped that you will be prepared to enter into such a discussion, and in doing so, bear in mind the circumstances referred to above.
40 If, as the result of any such discussion, you should fail to find a mutually acceptable basis of settlement, it is hoped that both you and the drawer will agree to seek the advice of the Hong Kong Government, which will consider setting up a small Arbitration Board to discuss any individual disagreement between individuals with the parties concerned, and to recommend to them a compromise settlement of their particular transaction. If you require such assistance, you should get in touch with the Colonial Secretary, Hong Kong, in the first instance.
